Hair Loss Treatment – The Truth!
It use to be that the words hair loss referred to a balding man. Now days it
could refer to both men and women. Studies show that those with thinning hair tend to look years older. Although that is bad it still isn’t the main issue that people have with losing their hair. The main issue is the lack of self-confidence.
It is because of the metal challenges that mean and women go through because of hair loss that has ignited the race to find a hair loss cure or at the very least some sort of hair loss treatment.
There are a number of hair loss treatment options on the market today. A lot of them you can purchase over the counter. Hands down the natural hair loss treatment is the solution that is the most sought after.
Although the majority chooses the natural cures, the problem with that approach is that the products are not strong enough to stop or prevent the hair loss, on the flipside most natural products are to weak to serve as hair loss treatments. If the hair loss is caught at it’s early stages then natural cures may work well.
There are a number of natural hair loss treatments on the market today that have combined the best herbal and nutritional hair growth substances and created very effective clinically proven formulas to stop hair loss and to generate re-growth. The foundations of most of these formulas are nutrients such as Biotin; Magnesium; Zinc and herbs such as Saw Palmetto and Nettle.
These formulas are taken internally - not applied to the hair and scalp itself.
If the natural hair loss treatment proves to be ineffective, then a more powerful medication can be used such as Propecia. Propecia has been shown clinically to be very effective in promoting re-growth of hair in men (it is not to be used by women). The main action of Propecia is lowering the hormonal levels in the body that inhibit the growth of hair. However there are some side effects, such as some degree of sexual dysfunction occurring in a very small percentage of men. Fortunately, sexual function returns to normal as soon as the medication is stopped.
Another problem with Propecia is that if usage is stopped, the gains in hair re-growth can be gradually lost.
In addition to oral medication and supplements there are a number of topically applied treatments that have been proven to be very useful. And just as with the oral medications, there are a number of natural and pharmaceutical alternatives to choose from. The general consensus is that the topical treatments are much more effective when combined with some form of oral medication or nutritional support.
The most effective topical hair loss treatment is the pharmaceutical Rogaine. The active ingredient in Rogaine is Minoxidil and unlike many hair loss treatments, women can use Rogaine in slightly smaller doses than that used by men.
In any hair loss treatment program it would seem that a combination of oral medication and/or nutritional support supplemented with an appropriate topically applied product, gives the best chance of preventing hair loss and encouraging the re-growth of healthy hair.
